~Games Ardor (full review)

“Hate Me Not” is a roguelike twin-stick shooter, where the player needs to defend the same thing that tries to hurt them. Waves of various monsters are approaching from the dark side of the world, and the protagonist's task is to clear the wave using a diverse arsenal of weapons and unique skills.

As the intensity of the waves escalates, the player must strategically navigate between the dark and white sides of the world. Players need to head to the white side, to replenish energy, unlock obtain weapons, gain new abilities, and acquire buffs that enhance the strength of their character. All that while being attacked by the same entity they try to protect.

And they don’t have much time, as they quickly go to the dark side, where more enemies keep spawning each wave.

Hate Me Not offers a dynamic gameplay experience where mastering the delicate balance between defence and offence is crucial for survival. Encounter a various array of monsters, each with unique challenges, and adapt your strategy as the world evolves.

How we came up with Hate Me Not:

Hate Me Not came into the Idea during the GMTK Game Jam 2023. The theme was  "Role Reverse". We started as a group of five people during the contest. All of us were proud of our first Game Jam game. It was already decided that we will continue developing Hate Me Not no matter the result. And the result exceeded our expectations. We were ranked 124th place out of approx. 7000 great games. After some discussions, the three of Us decided to continue.
